MOB!!! (Man Over Board...)

Pos: here
Loc: Puerto Supe
Acc: tent
Dist: 59 km
Start: 6:00 End: 16:15

Tomorrow:
Estimated landing: Punta Corona
Estimated starting time: Right after sunrise
Estimated landing time: Well before sunset

I felt quite fit this morning, at least after the first km, no more diarrhea, but maybe now a bit of coughing…is there always something? But all is good.

I was dragging my kayak right behind the single small breaker, jumped on, and off I was, legs still hanging out until I was in the safe calm water.
Peter decided to do it for some reason today in the “old style way”, like he did all the time with his small cockpit kayak – sitting on the beach on a certain point close to the surge with already closed spray deck, and waiting for a stronger wave to wash him in. Unfortunately there is not always just a strong enough wave to lift him up with the heavy kayak, and mostly the waves are just pushing him sideways…I saw him fighting for more than three tries, even lying on his side, and then cussing loud…I was wondering why he did it this morning like this? The breaker is really low and the kayak dragged over quickly on a low one…well, sometimes he is a bit stubborn 🙂

The wind and swell was again ideal today, nicely pushing, with the Humbold current helping. We paddled quite quickly our almost 60 km, and were happy to be done early.

We got a bit of entertainment from our third whale of the trip, short, but there was two times a HUGE back to be seen! Nice.

The next floating figure was human – well, ok, a human huge face on a balloon with a tiny body underneath. Thank goodness no real human.

But a huge dead seal was next – a bit sad, but that’s life…

Our landing was a city beach again, but we decided to get a bit to the side where a beach didn’t look that busy on a Sunday afternoon. Good choice. Just a few fishermen respecting our surf landing, with me in a low brace, Peter in a high brace, but then they were busy themselves launching a “nutshell” through the surf to get to the bigger boats, plus launching proudly a brand new large fishing boat from the shallow beach with the help of ropes. Quite a job!

Amazing blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m totally confused .. Any recommendations? Kudos!
