A rainy paddling day
Loc: Petrotin Pointe-a-Pierre Club
Dist: 45 km
Start: 5:15 End: 14:55
All great city stays come to an end one day – I already stayed with five days, longer than my usual three days. But as I paddled two nights double days, I was allowed to recover a bit longer. My skin on my backside needed it anyway. The deep scar still hurts and is itchy, but is closed. I couldn’t post a picture this time to find your pity, too private
Michel drove me down to the kayak club where my kayak was stored all the days, a little different launching than landing spot for the convenience of my hosts, but the distance is quite similar. Two guys opted to join me this morning, one only until the islands, the other one liked to paddle with me all day. Glenn was missing!
It started calm as usual, but very soon the sky became pitch dark, and a fat rain squall started. It kept on raining after the main squall almost all day, but this was nice, as it wasn’t so hot! Well at least when the wind went down again, it was nice. Strange enough, the current changed all day, with me, against me and sideways. The GPS tells the truth!
As usual, I am wondering why people want to paddle “with” me, when paddling all the time ahead of me, continuously just a few kayak lengths is annoying enough, but with 500 m and more ahead I am really thinking I am better off having also started by myself. It is always the same game, well rested strong men with almost empty boats are happy to race a woman with a heavy loaded 100 kg+ kayak who is living in her boat all days, weeks, months and years and is not out for just a day’s fitness paddle. I should refuse company if I had even been asked…
I am camping right at the shore of this mining company yacht club, friendly received by Roger Many thanks for looking after me!
First a motor boat anchoring close by had noisy music running, now it’s an open car from some swimmers doing their training here in the bay. One may think they can’ hear anything anyway while swimming? I just want my peace and will be taking earplugs very soon….
