Got gas cans, a matching stove, and my serious infection and funghi medicine
Pos: here
Loc: Sao Luis
Acc: Sandra´s apartment

Jadiel and his crew took me to a doctor friend´s apartment to consult again about my sores, and we eventually got the prescription for the antibiotics against the bacterial infections, some funghi killer pills and a strong cream against both, just out of his private apartment. I doubt a German doctor would be happy to consult for friends like this… many thanks!  Now I should be all set for the next section…the sores are drying and healing, I may be able to restart Monday. In the pharmacy, they didn´t accept the prescription written just on a regular piece of paper with the doctor´s signature (I was already wondering about that…?), and Jadiel had to drive back to the doctor to get a new slip with at least a stamp (he obviously didn´t have his printed prescription block in his private apartment), which they eventually accepted.

The next  roundhunting for the gas cans and maybe matching stove started in the central market in the old city. Again, as usual in South America, many many smallest shops and booths selling everything – but no camping gas cans. At least one dealer was always sending us to some other one, until after maybe ten times asking we finally found again those screw on gas cans, but I had no matching stove yet. I could kick my ass I left my tiny trustworthy old screw on stove in that ¨surplus things¨parcel in Belem which hasn´t been sent to Sao Luis yet (and will now have to go to Fortaleza). But that shop had a sister outlet with the matching small stoves right close to the apartment where I was living…hahaha…shopping tour circle closed. This shop at least came as close to an *outdoorshop¨ as it gets here, carrying at least some camping articles. The stove was acceptable size, and my hot meals were safe now after every hard day of paddling! Thank goodness.

A barbecue, named ¨churrasco¨ here, was the boy´s pleasure for lunch, just that the churrasco oven had to be immobile downstairs near the pool cooking on coal, and the boys all got stuck around there with beer cans in their hands. Only four people were sitting in the 7th floor apartment eating the yummy first batch of meat and fish, the rest stayed downstairs frying the rest – and probably eating right from the grill. Eventually Sandra packed some plastic bowls with the salad and rice dishes and brought them down to the ¨meat source¨…clever girl! There must be something wildly fascinating for men to cook on an open fire to let them be stuck there!
