When I was mentioning two days ago conditions are easy and mellow, and I am almost bored, sure now it got worse again. The wind got quite strong in the afternoon, still following, but whipping the waves up quite unfriendly. I neared the city of Coceicao, and should have landed either before it where the surf looked quite manageable, or should have paddled into the river mouth, which should have been ok.

But no, I thought I needed to check for a posada or some friendly people getting me on 220V to check if mylaptop would be working there. Later, when I checked the map, mylanding spot was surely bad despite those”breakwaters”, but as theywere trending east, the strong north easterly caught itself in those pocket beaches. The wind was eventually so strong whenI decided to land I thought the rivermouth entry may notbe funny either, although when I checked thesat images later I saw it is wide open. I couldn’t check the previous day the sat images on my non working laptop, so this decision was obviously very wrong. Also, when I looked on the time on my GPS clock it was already so late…that I crossed the state boarder from Bahia to Espirito Santo and the time changed to an hour later I also realized later…

So as usual, I carefully approached the beach where I thought I may be ok to go in, and if there would be any calmer waves and shelter in the corner, got caught by a breaker which I could elegantly high brace out, was already close and had a reasonable lull to quickly paddle in. And there I was, safe and sound on a steep beach, with heavy breakers crashing on it, among many beach people, but in the corner where there were at least no surfers. At least I had put on my helmet as there were those rocks and people around…

I got to talk to four beach beauties sunning themselves, and after I had put up my tent they invited me to come to their house across the street to have dinner or even to stay there. I took the chance to plug in my laptop to see if it would revive again, but nothing…and no internet here or laptop to borrow, so that I also could push on the next day to get to a host who can help mewith all those issues. Thanks to the Mendoza family anyway to offer me their hospitailty!
