Highlights: found a small ‘planted’ windshelter
Lowlights: had to roll on landing
Launch: tough but ok
Landing: heaviest surf belt
Pos: here
Loc: open beach
Acc: tent
Dist: 48,8 km
Start: 6:00 End: 15:00

The wind and according sea and surf was not really down this morning, but I decided to push on anyway. It would be a tough launch…helmet on, timing right, andI punched through a bunch of breakers out of the reach of those breakwaters. All ok. Passing the river mouth showed an easy entrance, which was too late now…sometimes my landing decisionsare not the best and rather dictated by impatience.

I passed the dense holiday village of Guriri, with thousands of people squeezing along the beach. If that is what most people like for holidays…a motorized hang glider flew endless and low over the people’s heads, you beg that he won’t get into trouble just there.

Then it was all endless beach again, strong following wind, and only one small river mouth after 40 km to invite to land in. I guessed this would be way too early for today’s good wind, and a landing on the open beach can’t be that tough…I was first aiming to another small river mouth named Barra Seca, but 10 km short of it I guessed the windistoo strong now, and I better go in, and who knows how the entry would be and if it would be open at all…if I had seen the sat images I would maybe have pushed on. But anyway, even if you take the precise position of the entrance from the sat image, it doesn’t mean it is still right there…sand bars change by the months almost.

My approach to the surf belt was this time not really successfull, I already got trashed by the outer large breaker, rolled up all right and quickly paddled in ok. Who cares…or such…I just had to blame my selfto have landed here.Glad I didn’t wash my hair in Conceicao…but at least I hit the small “bush”spot wind shelter where I liked to be! All ok. Still the heavy roll didn’twake up my laptop yet…

Everything is impermanent?
Well, not really! “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Freya has paddled roughly 23.600km so far, that is 90% of the total distance. Amazing. What a super athlete she is. Only 10% left (2800km),¡vamos Freya, ánimo, tu puedes!
