Today, an e-mail from the “World Paddling Awards” sent out the “official” x-mas update on the public votes. It confirmed I am in the leading field! Many thanks to all my friends and followers who have voted already for me!

As I am paddling again now after four days off while repairing my kayak, I can’t continue much on my campaign. I have to hope YOU – my friend – will be supporting me further on by promoting the voting link to your friends, family, neighbors and colleagues…the public voting is closing only late January! So good is not good enough – yet. Please keep the snow ball rolling!!!

The fishermen’s quarter proved to be a good place for the night. I left early as usual, well rested again. I was not as tired on today’s paddling, the landscape was a bit more interesting and closer.Despite barely any helping wind and even some headwind while a rain squall developed, I made good progress.

Some other thing was playing up on my mind:My GPS started to make problems, already yesterday. But I assumed correctly the batteries I bought last time were not good enough to run the thing properly, and I sent out already a “HELP” e-mail to Emiliano to maybe please bring me some new good ones.

And Emiliano came this late afternoon on my campsite on the NOT populated side of the river – by kayak! He started form the city side, jumped in his small red white water river kayak, paddled out of the river mouth and I already saw someone paddling through the bumpy waves up to me – it was really him! Great idea…to drive the car to the other river side would have been probably way too much of a bother, and as he was local here he knew his water sites! Thank goodness, to find a shop carrying batteries in my reach from the beach would have been not so easy. I had bought last time- for once wanting to save some money – no alkaline batteries which simply didn’t get the GPS to work properly. Now I’m all set! Emiliano took for the way back rather the shorter way and carried over the short dune path to the river inlet. It was eventually dusk, and the mosquitoes became very nasty for my bare legs. Thanks very very much for the battery service, Emiliano!
He also said tomorrow morning a few other paddlers like to catch me on the water along the city shore. Nice!

THANKS FOR VOTING FOR ME TO WIN THE WORLD PADDLE AWARDS!

Perhaps paddling with Freya today is just too much for me… Maybe one day… but at least I got a picture of Freya in her natural habitat! Thanks a lot and have a nice trip!
