Lowlights: Tired as hell…
Launch: Steep beach with dumper
Landing: Calm reef bay
Pos: here
Loc: before Itaparica
Acc: tent
Dist: 51,7 km
Start: 6:50 End: 17:00

Felipe came early this morning to help me to carry all my gear and kayak to the beach from the posada just across the road, but on a maybe 500 m wide beach. Thanks! Freshly shopped is a freshly heavy load…until I eat and drink my way through the bags. He brought his SUP to paddle with me fora few km and to take pictures. It feels quite strange to paddle with a guy on a SUP together when you are sitting so low and have a heavy loaded boat! But I don’t care about the swell waves, he did… 🙂

The first section until Riachao was just all steep beach with a more or less heavy dumper. It smelled like burnt countryside all the first km, not really nice, I could see it on the drive to town yesterday. The water was cold, only 22 degrees, like the approach to Regecia also. Strange corner, actually! Probablyas cols as Cabo Frio before Rio de Janeiro. So cold, the the guys on the surf spot even wore neoprene suits! After Riacho with it’s two ugly rocky harbors and oil tanks, it became a nice reefy area and warmer water again. I had a hard time to stay awake until Riacho, despite eating many yummy new and fresh things. The reefs became a bit nicer to paddle with many turtles to watch, then a crossing of a wide river bay over to my planned camp spot, also a reefy area with a shallow sandy bay. It was mid tide to low, and I could just slide over some rocks into my bay from the side. A beautiful spot! The only disadvantage here it is so sheltered that it is HOT!

Nice pictures. I’ve yet to try the SUP, but intend to first chance, though I can see the challenge I don’t think I’d like one for long travels as some do.Good to read you had a nice day. May they carry on.Safe Paddling.
