My bush shelter on the beach...not for long any more!

Pos: almost the same as yesterday, forgot to press the GPS button…
Loc: downtown in Balneario Oriente/ Mar i Sol
Acc: holiday house from Susanna
Dist: 0 km

More trouble started already yesterday night…after nicely updating my blog
via laptop and sat phone while recharging the laptop battery via my solar
panel batterie as I did already successfully quite often, I shut down the
computer normally late afternoon.
After a while I thought I could actually edit some pics and wanted to start
my laptop again…no way, it didn´t want to start! With none of my five
batteries, which should actually be all full, plus the almost full one I
just recharged via solar panel battery.
I got some kind of panic, and thought maybe with a 220 V power supply it may
work…and made my way up to the village. An about 1 km walk through the
sandy beach.
Luckily a late fishing car stopped by, picked me up and drove me to the
grocery shop where they new me already from my shopping that afternoon.
I plugged in, but no way it liked to start again…BIG TROUBLE!
Thankfully I got driven back to my tent again, and managed to send an e-mail
via cell phone to my boyfriend and IT-support Peter Unold in Denmark –
HELP!

I was moving the tent around the bush again into the new lee as the wind
turned again, and fell into a light sleep. Why? Bad thoughts about
the broken laptop, and the wind turned more than expected, so the tent was
shaking…but no way I was walking out again to move it again…

But I assumed my paddle next morning may be not happening – the forecast was
lovely almost following winds from the side 15-25 kn, but seas 2-3 m…and
this looked very UGLY this morning.

So rather my first thought was – after moving the tent again into the new lee
of the bush – and after I noticed that in the very early morning I braced
myself on to my Kindle ebook and probably broke the screen :-(( – to check
my e-mail on the cell phone if Peter found a solution for my laptop starting
problem…and he did! Genius…I reset the laptop, and luckily it
started normally…

I was busy all morning editing pictures and videos, happy the laptop problem
seemed to be out of the way.
I e-mailed Peter about the broken Kindle screen as well, but that resetting
didn´t work…:-((

A long ride off the beach! Watch my baby...

I knew at some point I´d get some visitors while I was busy on my laptop

with pics and videos – and at 10am a tractor plus trailer with four local
men (one spoke even a bit English!) showed up to advise me that the sea
will come up on the next tide another 500 m, and if I´d rather move into the
village into a house…what a question! I knew the locals would take good
care of the foreign crazy lady…
I quickly shut down all my electronics, and was packed as fast as I can…

With another no-paddling day off, and a broken Kindle e-book I´d rather have
a shower, and keep on working on my laptop!

They loaded the boat diagonal on to the trailer, my gear bags went into the
wide large front shovel. All jumped on on some place, and I was just a bit
worried if some gear bags fell out of the large front shovel, and the
tractor would just run over my sat phone or such…
But all was safely secured, and we arrived all right in the village, with
the oversized wide load! Quite a fun ride actually…pictures to follow.

The crew from Mar i Sol who took me of the beach, to the left my holiday house host

Susanne made me at home in an empty holiday house, and I first plugged my
electronics in to charge…and wanted to start my laptop again…NO WAY
ANYMORE! No resetting worked, no trick. It is BROKEN! :-(((

After my shower, a nice local architect, Norberto with good English
showed up, to ask if he could help with my computer…but even
with the mutual online help of Peter and local help from Norberto nothing
worked. The flashing pattern on the LED´s said “not enough power to
start”…and “you may need to replace the system”…we assumed I broke some
fuse inside by charging it with the solar panel batterie on 16V, although it
should take only 15 V…it was working for weeks in this way – until it
broke down….another big SHIT and FUCK!!!

P9220287.JPG
Norberto and his wife hosted me for an internet session in their home - thanks!

I could be online all day at Norberto´s house on his computers – very much
thank you for that!, but I need my own one at some point repaired – or will
have to buy a new one which is not as easy to set up as to write this…

I could update my last blog days with the latest pics, as I luckily saved
them on a USB stick as well…plus my videos. But I haven´t figured out how
to download on this computer my pics from today…so that comes later.

Norberto sent eventually the laptop via bus (a thing which works well here
in Argentina!) to Santiago who will check in the next big town, Tres Arroyos,
with a Toshiba computer dealer. He maybe able to say something tomorrow!

So the upshot of the last days – lost GPS chip, broken camera, broken front
bulkhead, broken laptop, broken Kindle e-book…it all adds quite some
stress and extra money to my “simple” paddling…

If anyone enjoys reading my daily longer updates like a daily soap opera 🙂
– maybe you are happy to use my “donation” button on my right website bar,
to help me with some of my extra expenses??? Thanks…muchas gracias…

Not sure if I can paddle already tomorrow…all those problems need to be
worked on.

But my updates may be a bit shorter the next days until I get again a
functional laptop – my own one repaired, or a new one with all my programs,

installed online by my IT-genius and partner Peter…

Hello Freya.
When using a solarpanel with no build in electronics, you need to have a solarpanel charger or regulator(meant for charging 12v batteries) that will limit the output to maximum 14 volt, even when the panel gives out 18 volt.
