Headwinds again…strong south easterlies all morning, easing a little towards lunchtime, then strong south westerly’s…
Last night I was on the phone and on the internet with Google Earth planning the next legs until 11.30pm.
My body simply told me today I had to take at least half a day off…this is what I did.
I pulled to the beach where I just was after a tough 20 km slog into steep white capped chop all morning – really draining and frustrating stuff. I had enough. I felt I needed to catch up sleep, and to give my body a rest. I had more or less planned to take a day off at Coral Bay, but I simply couldn’t stand being amongst all those tourists…
I spent the afternoon with a longish phone call to Greg, eating, and fell asleep at about 4.30pm. I woke for a quick camp check, but soon fell asleep again. My body needed rest.
Email from Freya:
23.21 113.47, before Pelican Point. 20km, 7:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Paddled all morning against fresh to strong headwinds with little to no shore shelter. Still beautiful reef water, but I felt like I need a half day off to rest and for myself. A full day would be even better, but I’lll keep on going…see how I’m feeling tomorrow.
The reef water is full of turtles! Every minute one is rushing away.
