Day 243, Thursday, 17.09.2009

My lovely Busselton hosts (out of Eagle Bay) Malcolm and Evelyn, plus Laurie and Sonia and her dad

Terry Bolland keeps on having a protective eye on me and my trip, and organized getting me out of my beach camp at Eagle Bay today. I was not really suffering anything there, but two weather days off in strong winds and heavy rain squalls make a civilized person somehow thinking “what am I doing here…” (in my tent, close to civilisation, but without a shower and enough battery power to finish my updates and to have frequent phone calls).

So Terry called his kayaking friend Laurie, who was a bit busy that afternoon, but Laurie organized himself his lovely neighbor Malcolm to pick me from my stormy beach camp at around 2.30pm. I ended up staying with Malcolm and Evelyn in their beautiful house. Thanks to all taking so good care of me!

After all chores like a proper shower, washing and cleaning my gear and most website updates were done, we had a great dinner together! I ate double portions of all the delicious food to fatten up a bit more for the next tough leg in big swells! :-)) Thanks to Sonia cooking, and Evelyn doing the desert!

Text message from Freya:

I’m having a weather day off today, and probably tomorrow as well. No good going around Cape Naturaliste and to head south in BIG unprotected swell and winds! Maybe it will be good enough on Saturday, but Sunday looks even better. We’ll see. Busy updating my website, emailing and catching up with my private needs…

Enjoy the break Freya! It makes good sense to avoid the big swells and winds if you can! Good luck with the next steps in your journey.

Way to go Freya,

You look like you are posed to attack the last part of OZ to get going East. Once you are around, I will feel more at ease that you are in a good home streach. I hope your son, sister and mom will be at the end to hug and congratulate you. Again, Terry is a great person. Good Luck and stay smart!
