Day 274, Sunday, 18.10.2009

Another day of 15-20kn headwinds to sit out – office work is to be continued, and when I was a good girl I may have two or three hours off this afternoon for enjoying a bit of sightseeing!

Tomorrow will be 15-25 kn following, I should make it around Cape Arid then, 70 km! Tuesday has low following winds, Israelite Bay is the destination. And then headwinds again, but maybe low enought to get at least a bit further.

Edda,

I have just spoken to Julia who is looking after the article and it will be in tomorrows paper (Wednesday 20th). It will also have the photo of Freya on Twilight beach.

I will add the link tomorrow!

Graham Gath rang earlier on. He said that he has been talking to Greg tonight. They are at a place called Poison Creek so she has made a lot of ground……er……water! today.

Keep it up Freya! I submitted the photo of you on Twilight beach and story to the Esperance Express today so will be waiting for it to come out.

Great set of pictures, this last lot!!
Thanks to Greg, we get to se some with you arriving/passing/leaving.
Is there a video sharing site you can upload videos to? Now that would indeed be a splendid thing

Fair weather wishes

Rose

It’s great to hear from you again Freya, I’ve been wondering how you were getting on, and where you were, every day! You’ve certainly made some progress since you were last able to update your blog…all those isolated beaches sound wonderful, enjoy them while you can.

Hi Freya, Greg,
You have covered some territory since I checked last. Well done.
In answer to your earlier observation, Woody ,Sandy Hook, North Twin Peak, Daw and Middle Islands all have small beaches on them.
I forgot to tell Greg when we were busy swapping notes on the coastline and tracks.
As Ian noted you and he are privileged to see a lot of remote beaches inaccessible to vehicles. I have walked to some of them when looking for the “elusive untouched fishing spot”.
If you don’t get my phone message about the track north of Wattle Camp please ring (and I’ll ring back – to save your phone bill)
About 1 nM N of North Twin Peak there is a small Island with a cave you can enter from the sea from the South.
I’ll mention it in case you are out that far cutting across to Cape Arid.
You should have mobile coverage from high spots via the Mt Howick repeater while out in the Cape Arid Area.
I have made Mobile calls from Middle Island.
Fair winds and good paddling.
Regards
Graham

Just a bit of trivia Freya.

Lucky bay is the whitest beach in Australia and Hellfire bay; (just around the corner) is placed third for the whitest beaches on mainland Australia.

As you would have seen there are many beaches that are only accessible by water craft. I have covered all this area on my kayak and there are some truly awesome beaches.
