Day 34, Friday, 20.02.2009

Destination Crowdy Head – I noted on my map „fishing harbour“, but haven’t had that really on my mind when I came around the headland…so the pleasure was great to see an easy landing inside a quite developed little harbour. Plenty of dolphins were playing in the lagoon besides the harbour. Beautiful!

Just where to camp? There was a lovely remote green spot right on the harbour wall, as I didn’t want to set up in the public park across the road. But the toilet building was nice to get a rinse for myself and my laundry.

I landed my boat on the only little sandy patch, surrounded by a steep stony harbour wall. After unloading, I pulled it up the rocks that it was sitting there in 45 degrees angle, padding even the bow with my spray skirt, and I guessed it was safe for the night…

I was sitting on the rocks of the harbour wall all night before I went to sleep, watching the dolphins…besides working on e-mails and drying my laundry…chores are waiting everywhere. I am actually looking forward to the remoteness of the northern land…no internet and cell phone access…

31.50 152.44 Crowdy Head Harbour, 60 km, 11,5 hrs, kind of boring day way offshore, but good paddling conditions. Camp in lovely fishing harbour on the harbour wall, 100 dolphins in the bay and in the harbour!
