Day 50, Sunday, 08.03.2009

Another day off for my skin…it’s getting better! I can peel already the drying scab of…tea tree oil feels so far beeing the best treatment for drying the sores.

We’ll see soon if the cyclone better gives me Monday or Tuesday off as well…they are already evacuating nearby Fraser Island…but I could go tomorrow! I’m like a race horse…restless on the run…

Later, to prevent getting new rubbing sores, I may try some greasy stuff on the skin, I’ve got some choices. And – I not only adjusted my backrest, but covered it with an Aquapac Large Whanganui (without the strap and plastic closure bar, for sure. The loops just came handy to tie it around the backrest!), and it will hopefully be “slippery when wet” and not rubbing anymore … :-)) – we’ll see how that goes! Completely without backrest I won’t be able to push hard with the legs, and my sitbone pressing on the high seat end will be suffering too much.

Never lacking creative ideas…

A seat solution from NZ adventure racers who want some rotation, without chaffing is the Gurney Gears Bumfortable. I’ve not tried one myself but you could arrange online and send to a future stopping point- maybe Townsville or Cairns.

moin, freya
