24.26 152.00 Mitchell Creek 55 km

Mitchell Creek River Mouth

I simply had enough on the second day paddling after 55km, I was till sore from the last 85 km day in rough seas. Amazing how fast your body looses the fitness…

I was not sure about further up landings on this coast. The beach here for the last stretch is simply gone on high tide against a sandy cliff.

I was tired as hell, no good sleep in the tent last night after 6 days in a bed…and it was stormy the first night out again! I rested and fooled around more than paddling. Nine hrs from 6 to 15.

It was a boring stretch of beach, with hopefully the last surflanding for long! The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park starts around the next corner!

But that night I was exploring the Mitchell Creek River mouth a bit, and went for a quick dip in the quiet water. But it was salty, no fresh water in the river mouth. But better washing myself here than in the surf out there…

I saw only one big turtle today, no other marine mammals…
I was enjoying to re-read eventually Paul’s book instead of playing with the computer! 🙂 – but got disturbed by two 4-wheel motorbikes checking in…it can’t be remote enough, there are always guys enjoying their night’s ride out on the beach…
