The talk in Rhode Island, organized and hosted by Jeff Shapiro from the Kayak Centre, was one of the very much perfect organized and prepared ones with a good turnout in a lovely (airconditioned!) venue. Thanks very much to Jeff and his nice crew!

Freya – I travelled by fast ferry from Vineyard Haven to Quonset and borrowed a car to travel to your Narragansett presentation. I had been following your trip in Sea Kayaker and Canoe & Kayak magazines, and was thrilled to meet you in person. I appreciated the details of organizing and conducting your trip, such as the exact paddle & sprayskirt you used, the gel seat, how much water you used per day, and how clothing and wet conditions affected your skin. I was impressed that you were 80% unsupported – as were the great explorers of yore, and that you spent eleven hours a day paddling, landing mid-day only 5% of your paddling days. What a feat!

Freya – I attended your presentation in RI (I actually happened to meet you outside before the show and helped to carry your kayak in to the auditorium). I thoroughly enjoyed your talk and slide show. I also am in awe of your amazing achievement, and was particularly impressed by your attitude…you weren’t “attempting” to paddle around Australia, you were doing it! What a great approach to life. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. It may have been just one night in your rigorous speaking tour to you, but was a memorable evening to us…Steve
I went to Freya’s talk with my daughter (21) and a couple of kayaking friends. We were floored by Freya incredible accomplishment. We congratulate her on her physical and her mental endurance.
