It is so exciting… I got to know about my nomination quite late as the e-mail was in my spam-folder for a while and I first didn’t get what it meant, thought it was an error not having finished my South American circumnavigation yet as it was first noted “Finished in May 2014” in my bio.

I could also only start late with my voting campaign, and only with less than half power as I am still paddling 10 hours a day and am camping at night at the beach with bad internet and limited batteries, time and energy. I will have to wait to do more promotion when I am in Salvador in maybe 3-4 days, hosted by a friend and having all office facilities available.

Still I am very thankful for the many votes so far! You were all so helpful voting for me, as I climbed from the very end on place three by now! Please keep on promoting the voting link!

Still surely I like to have more votes…long distance paddlers have a lot of endurance…and elderly women are usually coming slowly, but surely 🙂

If you can think of any possibility to help me with my voting campaign- please go for it! I am still not too able to do as much as I’d like to do myself due to me still being on my trip. It is helping the whole sea kayaking community to get respected eventually as a “sport”, and not only as a traveler’s trip with some adventure touch…I am really getting a lot of media attention world wide, but am getting rarely on the sports pages of a news paper, rather on the mixed sites as most journalists have not too much of an idea what I am doing out there…and I think I do quite a hammer of a sport day by day… 🙂

The ISPA – the International Sports Press Association – has eventually it’s attention on the World Paddle Awards -the best promotion you can get for a non-Olympic sport!

We usually have no medal ambition to paddle for joy, happiness, fitness and pleasure, and that I am doing those long trips noted as “records” is surely not normal, but I think it is also a big inspiration for your own level of “sports” paddling to be able to daily read about what I am experiencing, I guess. Thanks for all your comments in this direction! It motivates me also a lot to be an inspiration and kind of a role model

We also now have the chance to show how *big* our sea kayaking community really is! I am not too sure about the actual numbers, but I guess we are many more than those involved in the competition paddling disciplines. Let’s just show it in my voting quotes!
