Mon 16/03-2020 Day 506
Loc: Estero de Santa Lugarda
Acc: Hilleberg Keron 4 tent
We decided to have a physical and mental rest day. We are here on the beach more or less able to keep updated about the international situation via weak and patchy internet and limited batteries, and sure both also have our concerns, loved ones at home and businesses and their employees to care about. From my side, I am proud of my leading ladies and all other people in my two Janny’s Eiscafés, who is handling the situation well and positively according to the new rules. We are all hoping things are soon possible to be taken with more ease, and everyone stays healthy.
Both of us are obviously having few to no people contact, but at some point, we also have to return home. For now, we just keep on going. Nobody knows when or even if my last paddling partner for April, Markus Ziebell, will be able to travel from Germany to Mexico. But chances are still there. Marg might be able to extend her stay a few days. We’ll see and I’ll hope the best. So far, I don’t feel I need to look for another paddling partner for April who is spontaneously able to jump in or to contemplate to paddle just by myself in April.
We at least chose the best day to have off, the wind was almost all day relatively strong and seas slightly whipped up. Nothing we could not have paddled though. But as we are making good progress, and the weather looks on the long-term-forecast like most days similar, we both agreed it was time for a relaxing day off, eating, reading, sleeping. It was sunny, but windy enough our tent stayed cool enough.
We will keep on paddling tomorrow!
