no paddling today

One of those tedious off-days on a beach. One day off is fine to relax, but this was basically already the third day if I count also the last short paddling day. And it seems we have to suffer one more. For an active person like me, it is torture. Though I can be as an enduring reader as an enduring paddler…

The night was windy as forecasted, howling around our tent and with very strong gusts. We had enough rocks to secure the guy lines, and despite having not the perfect angle to the wind as the wind direction changed occasionally from either out of the arroyo or along the beach, our rock-solid Hillebrg Keron 4 stood straight up. The sea came up and looked not really inviting anymore, not even in the lee of the coast.

So we chose to read, eat, sleep, read, eat, sleep…we couldn’t even find pleasure in another hike, though it was not as burning hot today like on the other two off-days. There is a small chance to paddle at least tomorrow morning for a few hours, we’ll see. If not, Friday sounds like it will be relatively calm again…

We would love to have a shower or a dip in the sea, but snorkeling makes no sense in the whipped up sea, and our drinking water is enough for at least two paddling days to the next houses to refill, but nor for showering anymore. So the dust and sweat of the days off will have to stay a bit longer…
