Arrival in Chile, preparations…

I'm diving into a pile of Seal Line Nimbus dry bags...Picture by PJU

I was arrived safely at Santiago airport – and was picked up by Peter, who already flew in three hours earlier! Easy to spot him in the crowd, towering over the dark haired mostly shorter South Americans like a shining light house 🙂

Peter himself got picked up by my trustworthy old hosts Ignacia and Cristian Araneda, the same nice couple who already hosted me at the end of leg one! Thanks a lot to them! Ignacia’s tummy has meanwhile been growing with a baby in the sixth month, good to see her well!

The afternoon, after Ignacia’s delicious lunch, I was already diving into merging my three gear bags I left in Chile with the new stuff I brought. Plus, I also enjoyed being Peter’s packing master – while he was buys installing and organizing programs on the many electronics for our trip. I’m the manual worker, he’s the brain…a perfect work sharing! 🙂

All the gear has magically to disappear into a huge pile of my trustworthy Seal Line Nimbus dry sacks – nicely labelled and organized by color and size. Inside the dry sacks, I’m using a variation of ziploc plastic bags to keep the smaller things neetly organized and labelled. My very own little ziplock household! *They* should also sponsor me… 🙂

In the last minute, I could also pick up a range of new, THULE labelled Haglöfs clothing for my trip. Thanks to Haglöfs for sponsoring me! They simply have great functional and comfortable clothing for all situations in (outdoor) life. Back into my trip “uniform”!

I see already a bunch of nice comments and e-mails from my dedicated readers – thanks to all my fans for being back! Please – could you rather NOT comment on facebook, but on the blog itself? I think if you like to read the full blog entry from facebook you need to follow the link to my blog anyway, and then you could also just leave a comment there, if you like? I’m thinking it’s nicer to have all guest comments together on my blog and not spread out…btw, just a few more “Likes”, and I’m hitting the 5000 limit! A *huge* amount for a sea kayaker, but nothing for a soccer or tennis star…thanks for all those “Likes”!

May the hand of Aquadominokiltiflickyereye (Scottish God of all things Kayaking) guide you safely home.

Is it possible to get an automatic update on the blog..anyone?

To finally have something worthwhile to read will be a treat. I feel like a student who has been off on summer holiday, ready to return to geography class. Safe travels and smooth paddling. Viel Spass!

Hi Freya & Peter, i wish you all, that the second etappe is crowned by success again. That´s a good idea, to do by two one´s. I can´t wait for your beginning.

Joseph

Looking forward for your daily blogs. All the best for you and Peter.

So glad there will finally be something interesting on the internet again. Can’t wait to read about your daily adventures. Church of the Double-Bladed Paddle (a disorganized religion) blesses your trip.
