Highlights: nice village!
Lowlights: the first marked landing site was nothing
Launch: River Lagoon sheltered beach
Landing: Reef sheltered flat beach with low rolling surf
Pos: here
Loc: Caponga
Acc: tent
Dist: 56,4 km
Start: 5:00 End: 14:45

A calm night with few noisy surf for the change. Quite relaxing. I was out early, the tide time was only noticeable by paddling out of the river
lagoon against the flooding current over or better through the entrance breakers. All good.

It was quite rough out there, until the tide changed. I had to pass two kitesurfing spots, at the first one a guy liked to curiously surf close by
me a couple of times, asked questions in English and shoutted whatever advises at me (I think…) He better concentrates on handlig his devices
safe to stay away from me, but it looked not too scary and controlled. The wind was moderate all day, nothing compared to the high speed racers on my first encounter.

I had marked two possible landing spots on my GPS, the first was absolutely nothing, either the tide time was wrong or I did something wrong. Just heavy reef breakers and a touristic beach. The second one looked way more promising, as I saw many sails from the distance. I chose the first beach right after the natural reef with the best shelter. Some low rolling breakers, nothing serious. With the rising tide, it is even more calm here.

Some fisherman on the beach was just busy to cut open and to take the guts out of a meter wide stingray, quite an impressive guy. Did he get washed ashore here by himself?

I got help from some fishermen on my gear and kayak, thanks, and found a parking slot in the long row of maybe 100 flat bottom fishing boats with this specific triangle sail which they are calling here Jangadas. It is a little sheltered from the other boats and off the promenade, where some restaurants and hotels serve some few lonely tourists at the end section of the beach. One restaurant had a freshwater shower upfront, thanks! But it is the same which makes loud music noise allover the beach, you can’t have it all…no Brasilian touristic beach section without loud local music!
