Our last beach camp at Punca Blanca

Pos: here
Loc: between Punta Blanca and Punta Charao
Acc: tent
Dist: 0 km

Tomorrow:
Estimated landing: Foca harbor
Estimated starting time: Right after sunrise
Estimated landing time: Well before sunset

The last relaxing day on a beach! Perfect after yesterday’s effort, and perfect for letting this section of the trip slowly run out. We were really feeling fit now, running down the 60+ km days with no effort, even enjoying quite a surfing competition yesterday in the almost 20 knots following wind just after we had paddled about already 70 km! And we still are having fun paddling…

The first greens on the dunes!

We surely slept in, slowly woke with a book, had breakfast, did a few last chores on the gear and had lunch (a new creation of powdered bean soup mixed with beef flavor cubes, mashed potatoes and soaked soy meat, it was not that bad!).
We went for a walk through the dunes, uphill in search for a mobile connection, and along the beach. Walks are still quite tiring, especially in the heat, although it was quite windy again the afternoon. We are just used to sitting!

It will be the second last paddling day before the x-mas break, a long 70 km crossing to a headland with the small village of Foca which has a sheltered harbor. The last paddling day will be Wednesday, with the short paddle to Paita, where we are hoping to store my kayak at the coast guard building somewhere, and where Marco will pick  up “his” kayak, the one Peter has been using since Valparaiso. All is going according to plan! :-))
