The inlet at low tide

Pos: here
Loc: Bahia Clift
Acc: tent
Dist: 0 km

I’m not sure what is a greater torture – the direct view from the high up place on the gravel beach on the whipped up sea and the wind and heavy rain shaking my tent, like on my last two day’s camp – which were obviously two weather rest day.

Or if it’s even tougher sitting the shelter of a seclude inlet, with maximum wind protection and an 80% dry, occasionally even sunny day, only relying on the forecast of way over 25 knots for having reason not to go out and paddle…

But Karel’s forecast is usually reliable, and Peter said the same on the phone reading wind guru, so I stayed put the second day. But tomorrow…it will be good enough to go! If it does not change over night…and with some luck, the next four days may be good.

I got even a short, but heavy hail shower today, but basically it was looking in my sheltered place like a reasonable nice, mostly sunny day! Still it made no sense even to get much out of the tent, as I could walk maximum on low tide maybe 10 meters right and left…and on high tide nowhere. Should I rather have gone out and fought over 25 knots head wind?

So reading again…well, that is not really the Fjordland trip I was envisioning. But it only can get better going north!

Not much more on my mind today…

Petrus and Neptun at that time are not lovers, but they get in peace again – sure 🙂
