I spent a quiet night right back on the beach where I left after my crash landing. I had some worries about my kayak -will the bow really be waterproof? Maybe we should have waited one more day and have dunked it into the pool of my house? Just trust a great guy’s work, I decided…and all is good! The bow proved to be completely dry, and even the day hatch leak is gone. Thanks very much, Gustavo!
The exit out of the reef on the correct spot proved to be no problem,and I could relax for the day. But obviously I relaxed too much – I was paddling with closed eyes most of the day and was close to fall asleep.The many online work and city excitement took it’s toll on my need of sleep, so I spent the day almost paddling in trance. Not that I was missing much – beach, beach, beach and palm trees, palm trees, palm with few other stuff in between like villages. I had to stay quite offshore, as the surf was still nothing to trust. But it got lower by the day, as much as the mount of turtles increased.
I was planning to land at Praia do Forte, but around the corner in the bay before the river mouth or later. I had to round a wide breaking reef, left the anchoring bay of the larger fishing boats behind me, and landed at a smaller fisherman’s site in the bay.
This place was a very tidy one with shower and bathrooms, the guys were impressed by my trip and even raking the ground once more extra for my tent site. The large hotel next door gave them some creative extra business on having created a lovely barbecue site with surf board benches to sit on where they prepare lobsters for the guests on an open fireplace. One guy showed me his “guest book” with many good party pictures – a probably better income than catching fish only. But no party tonight,thank goodness.I already fell asleep after dinner and had to wake again to write this update…
