New schedule…

Our Vina del Mar hosts Ignacia and Cristian Araneda, Peter and Mark Peloquin on yesterday's dinner at Fellini's

The visit at the Navy went well, the permit is on the way! Thanks to Capitán Iván Navarrete to get things going! Sorry we were missing a picture…

But we had to suffer yesterday a lot of worries if our kayaks would be really on the plane on Thursday as now planned after the first try failed…hundreds of phone calls and e-mails, but no confirmation to be “priority load” and to be sure about the date. Cristian eventually received an “ok” this morning through the help of a cousin working at LAN cargo in Miami who was even able to put it on a plane arriving already on Thursday morning…promised…

Juan Paulo Ceron from Universal Kayaks, who was already also helpful on my arrival, will be able to provide a truck tools and workspace to unwrap the kayaks from their metal cage and cardboard boxes.

THULE Santiago (Emasa) is working on providing Cristian a new roof rack to be able to transport the kayaks eventually from Santiago to Vina del Mar. Thanks, THULE!

Mark Peloquin from Bluewater Kayak Works already arrived yesterday from Seattle/ USA to be ready to mount the electrical pumps in the new kayaks. I promise you Mark, when I’ll be circumnavigating *North America* I’ll be starting in Seattle and you don’t have to fly around the world any more to mount your pumps! Mark already flew to Germany to mount the pumps in my first kayaks…thanks, Mark!

So all seems to be on the way…picking the kayaks on Thursday, mounting the pums until Friday night, and launching eventually Saturday early morning! Hopefully… 🙂

From Coquimbo I expect your pass along these coasts. Now in this stage the weather conditions become comfortable. No more stormy weather and no more low temperatures! Here you’ll find large beautiful beaches with warm water, not as cold as in the south! I hope you can enjoy this part of the Chilean trip and that you can accomplish successfully this exciting but demanding adventure. Good luck! PS: a previous response mentions a campsite at Isla Damas, I’m afraid that is no longer permitted.

Already, I am getting in the habit of checking your blog daily. I hope it’s all smooth sailing from here on out, with just enough excitement to keep you and Peter from becoming bored, lol!

Hola Freya , just …amazing what you have done and what you will contin ue doing. A good campsite , extremely calm, with white sands is in Isla Dama , north of La Serena, but no drinking water there , OR , camp in front of the island , where is the Conaf office (in front of the pier).Saludos , Juanfe Zuazo (from Yak Expediciones – Puerto Varas,Chile)
