My father’s 85th birthday today…if he were still alive, he may have been proud of his daughter…the old Cap Hornier…

I was watching the surf yesterday afternoon developing with high tide quite ugly here, but in the morning high tide the surf is fortunately
always lower and less violent. Still it was quite windy this morning, and it stayed around 16-17 knots, relatively comfortable all day until two hours after low tide.

I passed a wide shallow river mouth after the first headland, thinking if I’d had paddled yesterday until there, landings would have been very calm. Many fishing boats floating around in front of the villages as before. I am wondering how often they go out?

I was almost fearing to get stuck on crossing the river mouth, as it was only mid tide yet and the water is sometimes just knee deep. So hurry up!
Reminds me of the previous section of the trip…

A huge headland with a large sand dune and a wide beautiful reef offshore was obviously the local play spot for tourist cars, what a pity as I may have loved to camp there too. But it was too early anyway, I made my way just across the big rocks of the reef, and was aiming once again to land on an unsheltered open coast across the wide bay. The surf is doable on the right time of the day, means at the latest 2-3 hrs after low tide I had better land.

I chose to land on some kind of small village spot, as the rest of the coast was beach with steep cliffs behind, likely gone on high tide. Two young fishermen were busy with some throw nets where I planned to land, they came just handy and they helped me with my gear and kayak up the cliff to a lovely camp spot in front of an unused restaurant. Thanks! A nice view, some shade and breeze! I positioned my kayak for tomorrow just so to be able to slide it down by myself down the low cliff, greeted some more locals and made myself at home.

One go with the broken laptop looked successful, but it was not stable. I have to see the service in Fortaleza.
