Boring and tedious paddle against moderate wind and waves

Pos: here
Loc: somewhere on the beach…
Acc: tent
Dist: 30,2 km
Start: 6:45 End: 16:20

My brain must have been burnt out yesterday, or I was probably too tired to notice I plugged my sat-phone into the wrong USB slot to send off my full update, as one slot works, the other does not. Ok…
I had at least a long and undisturbed sleep last night, still it was the same fight along boring beaches with low dunes against 10, mostly 15 knots wind and moderate, but annoying short and breaking waves. The other way round maybe fun, but this way? Well, you can’t claim you have conquered Mount Everest by descending it twice, so the wind I have to take now as it is. The Pacific side was perfect, mostly following wind and way more important to have gotten that right.

But no way will I be able to paddle my ususal 50 km average per day in these conditions, 30 km, maximum 40 km will be enough. Putting up camp in the heat is not fun either and draining. But no complaints…

Internet on my cell worked also today, so all good again. I am camped about a kilometer behind a popular beach, but there is only one deep wheel track, the people seem not to be commonly driving up and down, thank goodness.I am also hidden a bit behind a dune, so chances of an undisturbed night are good. That is what I need after such a day!

Don’t worry, as you head in our direction, you’ll find the Caribbean a lot easier paddling, and you’ll be able to put in some serious mileage. Looking across to the Guiria peninsular in Venezuela, the seas are flat with just light winds. And I’m referring to the north coast, which is the Caribbean side, not the Gulf.
Safe paddling.

Glad to hear that after a grueling day you are able to camp in solitude, Freya.
