The noise of the night were a bunch of local roosters…as early as 3.30 am they started with their “kikirikii!”, and didn’t stop until we got up at 6.15 am. But they were less annoying than the barking dogs last night!
Today’s paddle had again low to moderate *following* wind and sunshine, all still on low seas, thank goodness! This is how we like to paddle!

Peter enjoys being plugged to his mp3 player all day, and I don’t know who won the sound contest – the frogs of the third night, the dogs two nights ago, the roosters from last night or Peter with his happy singing along! I rather have my peace…

I’m much more of a visual person, I like to watch my environment and paddle close to the rocks, whenever possible. Peter has way more respect of the rocks, and stays about somehow a felt kilometer more out. Combined with his bad distance vision, I am actually wondering how many seals he saw today? But people enjoy paddling for different reasons…

A few small settlements and single huts were fringing the rocky coast today, and I saw even a bunch of cars bringing those remote places to life. What are people living on here? Can’t imagine they are all fishing and collecting sea weed only…actually, we barely see a fishing boat out, though in Caleta Sierra we just left were 13 boats anchored in the harbor, and here were 5 afloat and about 20 more dragged up on the landing spot in between the rocks. It can’t be too windy for them?

At the end of today, it blew about 20 knots from the south, but the seas were low, and the surf landing on our shallow beach was easy. Though I certainly came too close while waiting and watching the low surf rolling in and I got caught in a higher breaker with a long side broach in a high brace. Just fun! But wet…

Another local harbor master came tonight to have a check – La Gobernacion Maritimas de Coquimbo is well watching over us!
