Great launchparty! Plenty of press people and VIP’s around a nice catering buffet in the Puerto Madreo yachtclub. I could greet the representative of the City of Buenos Aires, the German embassy, the Prefectura Naval Argentina, from my sponsor THULE and lot’s of kayaking friends.Thanks to THULE for organizing the party!
I did a presentation of my trip, and had to answer lots of questions, special interviews, 100dreds of photos from about constantly 20 cameras clicking…well, business as usual.
But honestly, I was eventually very happy to get away from all the buzz not only today and to be on the water!
It was a bright sunny day, a nice breeze from right behind was pushing us along. I got escorted the first day by my host Alejandro who enjoyed very much paddling my spare epic 18x sport kayak, and by our friend Juan Pablo in an SDK boat. Thanks for being with me the first day, guys!
And for sure the Prefectura Naval Argentina sent two zodiacs and two jetskis to escort us out of the harbor area. Quite an honor! 🙂
We were planning to camp together the first night in the Quilmes Yachtclub, a mere 20 km of paddling away for that short afternoon. Unfortunately Juan Pablo got a work call, and Alejandro’s wife Virginia had to pick them up early this night already.
But as I am not feeling very wel all dayl, being coughing quite a bit the last days from way too much talking, not enough sleep and maybe too much wine as well, I am feeling now being back to the trip routine by myself and to get an early rest is the best medicine to feel better.
I am very sure there will be soon somewhere 100dreds of pictures out online from the launch party, as I’m sorry but I won’t send pics via the sat phone internet connetcion.
Let’s hope my sponsor THULE or anyone else may put a link in a comment to a nice launch pictures gallery! There was an “official” photographer as well as TV and plenty “unofficial” and press people with cameras. Please upload pics for everyone! Thanks.
