To the bottles, Amigos! Theo, the son of Osvaldo and Jutta from the yacht "Polarwind" at midnight in the "Micalvi" Yacht Club

Pos: here
Loc: Puerto Williams
Acc: Miguel’s Hostel Yagan
Dist: 0 km

It was x-mas evennig – I had signed up for a mutual dinner at the Micalvi Yacht Club, and was thinking most yacht people were joining it! I was asking for the time it started – 7.30 pm was Miguel’s answer…

Being German, I was there in time, rejecting earlier invitations from the German yacht with Barabara and Hans, and from a British yacht, to stay for dinner. I was just stopping on bothe boats for a drink, until they wanted to start their own dinner and I felt surplus as I signed up for the one at the “Micalvi”!
I hopped over the rails of the bows of the bows of the yachts to the “Micalvli” yacht club at 7.30 pm – and I was the only one there! Miguel’s father in law, who runs the bar at the “Micalvi”, was looking out for his guests as well – at least 20 people have signed up! The food was ready cooked, and no one showed up…strange…
The seven crew members of the Russian yacht “Scorpius” were expected, as well as several family members of Miguel’s family, and a few yacht crew members. But actually, most yachts cooked their own x-mas dinner…

Eventually at 8.30 pm, the first ttwo guest showed up – Dave and Victor, then Miguel himself slowly came over, as he heard the call on the VHF radio to the “Scorpius”, and eventually, at 10 pm, the dinner was served…amazingly still delicious though already finished cooking at 7.30 pm…

David and ?, two very experienced sailors in the "Micalvi" Yacht Club

I was sitting at the “outlaw” table with Dave and Victor, close to the Russian crew. It didn’t take long, and the vodka bottles were also on the table, and after dinner, I enjoyed joining the Russians singing some Russian folk songs to the guitar!

Later close to midnight, all crews from the yachts came to the club to celebrate the 25th of December- x-mas on some other places on the world. It became a nice party night, with dancing starting at 1.30 am, but this was just the time I felt I should leave, as I already had on my mind I’d be paddling on x-mas day…
