trip days left: 24
straight distance left: 422,3 km
Highlights: Great camp bay!
Lowlights: A little boring beach
Launch: Low surf
Landing: Sheltered bay
Pos: here
Loc: behind Barra de Valizas
Acc: tent
Dist: 54,5 km
Start: 6:20 End: 16:25

Besides the bunch of rocky headlands to negotiate at the beginning, the paddle along the endless beach was not really exciting. Good low to moderate following winds, the numbers were counting down quickly. The seas were moderate and easy going.

My landing bay was calm and sheltered from the eventually quite strong ENE wind. The whole area is a huge sand dune with rocky bits in between. The real beach is narrow, I am camping on a higher dune. I was walking on the highest dune point for a great overview. What a place! Another interesting spot was a small river coming for about 100 m on the surface to flow into the sea, before, it was covered with the dune sand. It almost looked like a spring, but I think it was not.

My mind is already around the corner on the home run…not much more to write today.

Cabo Polonio, in it’s early beginnings a hippie settlement. Such a lovely place. I still keep the T-shirt “Al fin y al Cabo, llegué a Polonio” haha. Freya may not stop at this nice place and perhaps reach La Pedrera or even La Paloma today.

Tomorrow you’ll enjoy Cabo Polonio a magical place of Uruguay.
Then Cape beaches are extensive but very good scenery.
Between Cabo Polonio and La Pedrera the landing may be violent by the depth on the coast.

Force and continue to enjoy these shores.

Ernesto
