I want my daily “thunderstorm” plus rain back, minus the “storm”, as it is obvious that this weather pattern here calms the wind down. Today is bright sunny, hot and windy as usual, 10 knots in the morning freshening to 15, then almost 20 knots. Who can be so crazy and go east…
I didn’t make it as far as I was wanting to, it is 41 km now to cross over the bay, from another 12 km further up the coast at Punta Codore it would have been only 30 km. Or I paddle the 8 km detour from here to the spit, overall 28 km, via Punta Maraüay and it is only 20 km. It is supposed to be less windy tomorrow, still 13-17 knots in the afternoon. Not sure if I like to paddle 40 km then. Maybe.
Peter could read my e-mail and told me via sat phoen Edgar Lopez has organized a free hotel room at Punta Cardón. Thanks very much to Edgar and the hotel manager Teresa Navarro! Guys, if this is the way to paddle Venezuela, please keep on going like that! First José Gabriel organized the free hotel room for me in Maracaibo, now Edgar for me in Punta Cardón…I like Venezuela and their paddlers! 🙂
Fact is that I urgently need to give my skin a rest in an air conditioned room, rather less the body itself. Sure it won’t harm it either… it is a miracle what a proper soapy shower and cool fresh dry salt free air does to me. I am just not used to this climate… Did you, David, as a local, have the same problems on your long paddle along Venezuela to Panama? Or maybe surfing happily along from east to west makes your smiling face overlook the rest … 🙂 Ok, I am working ab bit harder, but I wanted it like that… no way you can ever paddler the Pacific the other way round.
I will have just about enough fresh water for another two days, but could ask in the small fishing villages which are along the way now for more, if I needed to. But I rather be independent…

A good clean shower and cool AC is always a welcome event for the long days on the water.Its amazing how much better it camn make you feel. i know I enjoyed just getting in the river and washing my hair was a very welcome refresher.We all know you’d rather stay independant,Thats the you we know of, but its wonderful that so many are taking such good care of you as well.Safe paddling and fair winds.
