Pos: here
Loc: Cartagena
Acc: Navy room

I was packing my food in the morning, and worked online. At lunchtime, I was walking into the old city by myself for a bit of sightseeing and shopping. There is rare time on my city stays for that! And as Uli has offered to take some not used things or freshly shopped stuff home to Germany in May, I couldn’t resist… I bought some new dresses – one of them you may see here!

[pe2-image src=”http://lh4.ggpht.com/-w2H-T-5c3iY/UWNroAkcpeI/AAAAAAAAUmc/EtstM7dHy-M/s144-c-o/P4080016.JPG” href=”https://picasaweb.google.com/112133179186774955122/SouthAmericaSection2Stage14Colombia2BoarderPanamaToBoarderVenezuela#5864649474858329570″ caption=”Thanks for all your help, Uli!” type=”image” alt=”P4080016.JPG” ]

Uli also organized a new gas stove burner for my cooking, as I could not get the right gas cartridges anywhere in Panama or Colombia for my old one. So I had to get a new burner to match the available gas cartridges. As the smallest one was still rather sized for car camping, Uli’s team of the workers on the submarines did simply cut much surplus metal off, and I have now a reasonably small burner! Thanks to the guys!

He also provided me his own matching brand of camera with charger, as one of my two is broken and it had the only the built in charger for the batteries the second one uses also. There was no matching one to be bought in Cartagena. Thanks a lot for all your help and support!

I get picked up at 5 am tomorrow morning. We will carry my kayak just across the street to the beach, no need to paddle around the southern spit of Cartagena again. The Navy escort boat will take my bags, so I can paddle easier against the wind. I will probably also be sleeping on the small boat again, see how it goes! Paddling empty against the wind, and sleeping safe with a bit of breeze and bug free on the boat – thanks to the Colombian Navy to organize this escort for me!

Good day! This is my first visit to your blog! We are a collection of volunteers and starting a new project in a community in the same niche. Your blog provided us beneficial information to work on. You have done a extraordinary job!

Freya,
I missed you by few hours. I flew from Italy to Cartagena arriving Monday night.
I hope you enjoyed your stay in Cartagena and appreciated the old city which is considered as one the most beautiful spanish colonial cities in the world.
I wish the common northern wind during this season will be easy on you.
The crossing of the Magdalena river in Barranquilla is quite rough,
Regards,
Pedro

You look absolutely smashing in the new dress, Freya – it contrasts wonderfully with your tan! Glad you’re taking some time for some much-deserved R&R. Many thanks to Uli for recognizing the need for you to have a camera, and for assisting with that. I’m sure everyone else thoroughly enjoys your photos as much as I do.

Happy paddling tomorrow!
