I was busy working online all morning as well, and my hostel host probably thought I was still sitting out there on the patio since last night 11 pm…but where it was chilly last night, now the sun was burning and blinding me all morning. Even working on line has to be under tough conditions here… 🙂

At 10 am, Solange came to tell me she organized a neighbour to drive me to the club Nautico in Comodoro Rivadavia again,to check on my kayak.
We loaded all my gear on the truck, but in the Argentine way it took a while until we were underway again…but no problem. Thanks for driving me!

A clever way to land a sailboat - step one...

...step two! And now, pull hard on top of the cliff's edge...

I was hoping the repair was already done, but it proved that the club’s repair man decided it had to dry more yesterday, as both cracks had soaked water and showed some bubbles, like blisters, on the inside skin. This morning they seemed to be gone and dry, and the man started the repair instantly. Why do I always forget the names? Very sorry…I was very happy he did it for me, as he had the tools for sanding the gel coat off to better stick the patch. Ok, it is a black patch…but who cares. I may find some white paint in the next city, and I think one or two letters are missing now, too. But it looks all right so far, tomorrow I’m allowed to peel the tape off which held the edges of the patch.

I originally felt I needed another day tomorrow to get all my chores done, but it is perfect weather today and will be perfect weather tomorrow, so nothing  is making me rush through my chores as usual. But I managed to edit and upload all my pics, and to write all my updates. I did not really find time to deal with all my video files, this takes even more time, especially for a video beginner like me. But comes time, comes video…

I found it more important to call my son and my mom, and my IT-helpful boyfriend Peter in Denmark  for chatting anyway and for this and that regarding my website files. What would I do without him! It would never look and work all so smooth with maps, trip tables, updates, tracks, way points and many more things!

My sister Edda, also well known as a frequent commentator, is editing my write ups for spelling mistakes and a bit of grammar, so that the Google translator has an easier job for all the Spanish and whatever language readers – thanks to her! She also edits my trip map, which is the last thing so far Peter didn’t automatise yet.

While my kayak got finally repaired, I was asking Maxi for help to find a driver to get me as far back as possible tonight – I didn’t want to miss too many km of paddling! I couldn’t go all the way, as the access to the landing spot is only on low tide, and quite a tricky desert ride, as you may have read on the last day’s update. Plus that dumper would probably be not much smaller… but instead of leaving 60 km out, it would be only 20 km then, which I could handle much easier than launching from Comodoro Rivadavia or even from Rada Tilly. No, now I’ll land at Rada Tilly tomorrow! 🙂

I was working more online, went shopping, and got my pick up with Alfredo, Felix and his girlfriend, thanks for driving me back north!

I was looking along the only beach road for my fishermen from last night, and voilá! They were just parked almost at the end of the road, chatting to friends on the way home! They couldn’t miss out our car with the kayak, but I was wondering how Felix, my driver, recognized them!

It was a big hello again, and many more hugs, kisses and pictures with suddenly many more people…Martin seemed to have spread the word all along the beach! It was a sunny Sunday, and the beach was lined up with cars and people fishing and picnicing with campfires. But I saw only one “normal” tent! Car camping with tents as I know them doesn’t seem to be popular here, or “normal” tents either not available or not affordable, plus they are probably not social enough. My fishermen, as probably most other people out here this sunny weekend, preferred to sleep under the high tarp only, as rain seems to be not a problem here any way.

We drove to the very end of the beach road, and driving on the beach was not possible tonight anyway, as it was high tide again. So it had to be a start from here some where! It was a mutual decision where the best camp spot for me was, and after a bit of searching around the area with now three cars I pointed out where I’d like to sleep – at the narrow beach side of the road, a flat spot, and few people and little rubbish around me…there would be still cars driving back all night on low tide.

We unloaded everything, and after more pictures, more kisses and hugs I was finally by myself again! A lot of work was still waiting, as I hadn’t packed my freshly shopped food yet, which always takes an hour or more to take things out of square boxes and bags that can’t be sealed into ziplock bags – I call it my little ziplock household! Just that those precious bags are not widely available here, and only in two bigger sizes…washing them with soap and reusing is better anyway for the environment and wallet, but quite some extra work.

Will sleep now, very happy and content I didn’t have to skip 60 km, and to miss another great weather day! Maybe I decide tomorrow morning to paddle first to the left for a while and then south to make up for the the missing distance…the destination for the night is Rada Tilly Nautical Club…I have been there already…but driving…not on my own (repaired) keel!

Hi Freya, when doing field repair I use an alcohol swab from my first aid kit to dry the hole or crack I am repairing. I am a Canadian Great Lakes sea-kayaker addicted to your blog. I see there is an army of us addicts out there. What a fun way for us to learn geography! Thanks for the time you are taking to write.

hy freya just little tip for drying boats if u have crack in them in the future(hopefully as little as possible ) just stick a hair dryer into the kayak it really warms it up and drys it out quickly of course it is useless on a beach but in someones house it is really handy your boat is gonna be dry for repair in no time god luck with the trip i love reading it every day

Great pics !!! These places are not too much known for us, and they have gorgeous landscapes, perfect to unplugg yourself.
Good luck in the rest of Patagonia coast…! For all the people interested in our country, I invite you to travel to Argentina…it’s a very nice place to spend your vacations. (Just an uninterested argentine citizen )…Bye. Claudio.

Freya, you consistently outdo yourself with descriptions and photos of the journey. I finally got my wife interested and we are thrilled that you share your solo paddling so freely. Great stuff! Thank you!

Hi Freya, i study your pics from your first and now from the second stage. Your comments in the blog, your commets at the pics and the pics themselves are important for the mankind like them: Marco Polo, Alexander von Humboldt a.s.o
I hope your homepage keep scientist´s awake. I ask myself why no one of the scientist start up a job doing by you ?
On the other side, i think it´s enough work what you do for us (and yourselve).
In future, your travell descriptions become immense history – i´m sure.
