First day in Buenos Aires

My hosts in Buenos Aires - Alejandro Daniel Carranza (enjoying his mate tea) and his wife Virginia

Alejandro picked me up from the airport, all my bags arrived well (thank goodness…) and drove in Latin American style through Latin American traffic…

Welcome to Buenos Aires!

I try my first careful tiny sip of mate tea - it tastes like liquid tobacco to me...

I arrived in their lovely townhouse, where I have a quiet room for myself – and wireless internet! Sure the welcome drink was South American style mate tea – hmmmmmm…need to get used to that, or better not?

I didn't expect a German Kuckucksuhr with a REAL Kuckuck (or such...) in Alejandro's house!

Alejandro, being a veterinean, and his wife Virginia share the house with two dogs, a few cats and this lovely bird, who looks like it just came out of the real working Kuckucksuhr…

We made a city tour of Buenos Aires in the afternoon, visiting the harbor where as well the Puerto Maderas Yacht Club is located – my starting point.

We kept on going to the (in)famous Casa Rosada – the “Pink House” (not the “White House”) – the President’s house!

Alejandro and me with two National Guards inside Casa Rosada

We managed to catch a “Change of the Guards” ceremony and this picture – unlike in Britain those guys are allowed to move and smile…
