The same procedure as yesterday…heaviest rain, wind, raging white seas, sleeping, reading, eating…well…I’d rather be eventually kayaking again!

Last night brought a bit of distraction – instead of the usual white flour bun with cheese (and plenty of mayonnaise for me) we played “McDonald’s” and had Hamburger’s – real yummy, juicy Hamburger patties fried in the oven, on the same white buns with cheese, plus all three sauces (mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup), topped with the highlight – a few fresh green leaves with some fresh minced spices out of the green house! Yummy! The fresh tomato slice was just missing though…

I thought that was it for the day’s dinner around 8 pm, but at 11 pm José came with a night’s snack – a plate full of friend chicken, meat and sausage pieces plus the three sauces…the usual Friday night’s extra treat, he explained…glad that I was still up! And I was thinking he was preparing the meat for the next day! So far, there was meat on the table every day!

Unusually for me, I found a film on the ever running TV in the lounge which I liked to watch – Troia, with Brad Pitt and Diane Krueger, a historical monumental long film with plenty of sexy men’s gladiator bodies fighting hard and pretty women with some love stories in the back ground to watch. Not that I understood a single word in Spanish! But the international body language…

Before the film, I had a tough table tennis match with Juan. We keep ourselves busy! We didn’t try the pool table yet…I always thought I had a “baby sized” pool table at home, but the one here is about 50 x 80 cm in size…cute! Maybe tonight.

Today, I was able to get skype running and had a long chat with Helge, my son. He has a way to say “Mami” on the phone which makes my heart melt and homesick…but apart from that, he is strong and stable and is doing well living with his father, and his big brother being home occasionally. Good grades at school…a pleasure to talk longer!

There may be a small weather gap tomorrow morning to paddle back across, but I’m still not sure yet about the sea state and continuous rain. Not that I mind rain, but it was a bit too much the last days!

Sounds like you’re being well entertained, and fed! Enjoy the “vacation” as much as you can, ’cause there’s going to be plenty of paddling to come.

¡Hurra por la Armada de Chile!

A bit of a bore to be held up by this crapp weather Freya. What a bonus to have the Navy accommodation instead of being stuck in the tent!! Hope the weather improves soon……
