I stayed on the spot today. I am still well in time, no reason to launch into a gray morning, into whitecaps out of a direct onshore direction from SE with unfriendly seas and an even more unfriendly shore break, consisting of a moderate dumper on the steep beach and one or two breakers slightly offshore. Not that easy to time it right and to get out safe.
The sun came out around noon, displaying even more ugly seas and break. My last test of patience and skills before I turn into Rio de la Plata? I am just sorry I won’t be in “safety” already on Sunday, as I have heard some paddlers liked to meet me at Punta del Este. I have no e-mail reception here, sorry.
I think I can go tomorrow, with a fore cast of low wind from the east and later moderate from ESE. At least until the headland of José Ignacio I can already see, but rather until “Buenos Aires”, but unfortunately only the similar named Balneario. I may turn around Punta del Este on Monday, but we’ll see. I haven’t seen the updated fore cast yet. Hope my launch will go all right tomorrow!
Not any person driving past my campsite, or any boat showing up. Safe camping, but at some point I like to see some *people* from Uruguay… 🙂
